As everybody can easily realize, Phuket
has a great abundance of hills mostly located around the area of
Kathu and all across the west cost of the island.
In some of them many tourist companies
are organizing elephant camps, others have been equipped with zip
lines or other adventurous activities, however the majority of them
are still partially unexplored both because of their steep profiles
but also because of their inaccessible and lavish vegetation.
Inspired by my discovery I proposed to
my friend Pok to have a little inspection of the area and immediately
we agreed to go out for a jungle trek.
While hiking on the jungle I must admit
I was freaking scared to encounter any cobra or any other sort of
big snake, however the will to find some rock was stronger than my
fear and we endured in our expeditions.
The first boulder we found was just
great.
Obviously it is covered by vegetation, however its shape
clearly features potential climbable lines.
While walking around the area an old
man who turned to be the owner of the whole 20 rai piece of forest
gave us some indication to find more boulders, we kept walking and
without even going too deep inside the forest we discovered 3 full
scale big boulders featuring slabs, vertical sessions and over hangs.
Awesome.
Next step is to clean them up!
I really hope that all the climbers out
there will respond to our call when we would decide to bring their
souls to light. Very soon....
Stay tuned!
